Central Coast Chapter Scholarships

Cliff Lewis Memorial Scholarship

  • Qualified Applicant(s) will be currently enrolled in an accredited degree program in surveying, surveying engineering, geomatics, or geomatics engineering approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in the United States of America.

(or)

  • Qualified Applicant(s) will be currently enrolled in an associate degree program in surveying, surveying engineering, geomatics, or geomatics engineering with the intent to attend an accredited surveying course baccalaureate program or pursue a career in the land surveying profession.
  • A preference will be given to those with a GPA of 3.0 for overall college classes and a preference will be given to those with a 3.0 for major course study.
  • Candidates will be selected by applying the following preferences as listed in no particular order of importance.
    1. Have worked or lived in the Central Coast Chapter area.
    2. Have already achieved a valid LSIT or LS license.
    3. Have experience in the land surveying profession.
    4. Are Trig*Star winners
    5. Have participated in a CLSA function and/or attended at least 2 CLSA Chapter Meetings
    6. Are a current member of CLSA
  • Qualified Applicant will complete a Foundation application in accordance with current Foundation guidelines and timeframe

      ABOUT JEREMY REDOMOND
      Jeremy Redmond Memorial Scholarship - Central Coast Chapter CLSA Jeremy Redmond was born in Clovis California. I met Jeremy while attending Fresno State University. We were both working towards Bachelor in Science degree in Surveying Engineering. Jeremy became a close friend after graduation when he moved to the Central Coast in 1997 to work for a local engineering company. I joined Jeremy at the same company and we worked as a two-man field crew for several months. During that time I learned that Jeremy was a very hard worker and an overall good person to be around. He was always determined to accomplish the task at hand as efficiently and thoroughly as possible. Jeremy was very enthusiastic about surveying. Working hard was easy for him especially when faced with a challenge and an opportunity to learn more. A good example of that is the summer Jeremy spent in Alaska working for BLM helping to survey public land. He had some great stories about bears hassling the survey crews, riding in helicopters, cutting line through dense forest, the whole nine yards. I've seen a picture of Jeremy holding the biggest Lingcod (fish) I have ever seen which he caught in Alaska during his internship there. Besides surveying, I know Jeremy really liked ice hockey. He played for Fresno State. He was more than willing to take one for the team, as he had a broken leg for a few months during our first year at Fresno. That did not stop him from completing the survey lab classes. As most surveyors, Jeremy was very active and enjoyed outdoor activities. Jeremy was a good friend. I think his self-motivation, determination, and eagerness to learn has been inspiring and a good influence on the people around him.
