Hello Everyone! Please join us for our next CLSA East Bay chapter meeting on Wednesday, November 13! We will be joined by speaker Caleb McCallister for his presentation: NEXUS – Data, The Surveyor, and Artificial Intelligence The 21st Century has already brought many new and exciting changes to our society. The future is unknown, but in this presentation we will briefly go over the history of the profession, how it is being impacted by current technology like artificial intelligence, and how everything comes back to data. You may leave this presentation with more questions than answers, but that’s okay! And for a little more information about Mr. McCallister, see below! After thirteen years in the private sector and two years working for the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Caleb began his career with Caltrans in 2016 as a Transportation Surveyor in District 4, in Office Surveys. In late 2017, he transferred to the North Region, processing team on point cloud feature extraction. After an acting assignment, he was promoted to as Senior Transportation Surveyor over Office Surveys where he worked to deliver quality as-built digital products for Project Delivery. Simultaneously, he led a small team to develop an electronic work order system to better track requests for land surveys products, the North Region Survey Request Database. In 2021, Caleb went to work for the Office of Land Surveys in the HQ Division of Right of Way and Land Surveys as the Chief of Survey Standards. In this role he worked on modernizing the Caltrans Surveys Manual, completing the Real Time Network station specification, and initiating an IT project to acquire a knowledge management solution. With his unique experience in delivering geospatial data to various consumers, he now leads the Enterprise Data and Geospatial Governance program, supporting division/business areas with their data governance needs.
Caleb is a licensed land surveyor and graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts with an emphasis in Product Development.
A Northern California native, Caleb lives in Lincoln with his wife and two sons. He enjoys too many hobbies to list. See you there! 5:30pm - 6:30pm: Social Hour Tickets$0 Member Registration $0 Non-Member Registration |
