California Land Surveyors Association Education Foundation Announces Amendment to Fresno State MOU

New agreement will provide scholarships to Fresno State students and technology, equipment and software upgrades to the Fresno State Geomatics Engineering Program

Sacramento— June 28, 2023 — In 2012, the CLSA Education Foundation and Fresno State entered into an agreement to collect donations to be used to hire a full-time professor licensed to practice land surveying in California to ensure that the Fresno State Geomatics program continued. After almost $150,000 was collected, Fresno State found a different path to fund the hiring of the surveying professor. Since that time, the funds donated by CLSA members, the Education Foundation, CLSA chapters, the GME Foundation, and other valued partners, have been collecting interest. The CLSA Education Foundation and Fresno State have been engaged in discussions on how to best use those funds to honor those who donated and provide maximum benefit to surveying students and the Fresno State Geomatics Engineering program.

"We are pleased to announce that the CLSA Education Foundation and Fresno State have come to a mutually agreed upon amendment to the 2012 Memorandum of Understanding," said Keith Spencer, Executive Director and Chairman of the California Land Surveyors Association Education Foundation. "This new agreement will fund scholarships to deserving students and will provide upgrades to equipment and software for the Fresno State Geomatics Engineering Program."

The CLSA Education Foundation was established in 1993 and is committed to supporting land surveying students and programs.
