FS: ANTIQUE SURVEY TRANSIT by William Schmolz
CAD$2500 - This Antique Survey Transit was made by William Schmolz in San Francisco in the mid 1800s (no serial number). This is a very RARE transit (one of only three known) that was originally purchased by my Great Grandfather (John Armstrong Patchett) in Napa California in the 1870s then brought from San Francisco to Canada by my grandfather in the early 1900s.
My grand father used it to survey the dike system for Albion BC right after the 1948 flood. The kit includes... --transit in wood case --tripod (stiff leg) with attached levelling head --brass plumb in leather case --2 pole Chesterman, Sheffield chain. See history and photos... www.thisisallmystuff.com/schmolz" |
