New APN Number

What does it take to triggger a new APN number and have the assessors map redrawn? I want to separate a few lots from my parcel and get financing on them. The city has said I can sell the lots. How can a new APN be gotten while the lots remain in my name? Is selling it to another entity the only way?

If you filed a map it should have gone through the tax collector prior to recordation and they would have redrawn the map at that time. Can't imagine why they wouldn't have. Selling them would definitely cause them to be redrawn....maybe with the title company?

Pet Peeve

Best of luck with the assessor situation, but I can't allow the title of this thread go uncontested. Saying "APN number" is tantamount to saying "Assessor's Parcel Number number." It's not just redundant, it's repetitive.

A few other common transgressions of a similar nature:

VIN number (Vehicle Identification Number number)
PIN number (Personal Identification Number number)
ATM machine (Automated Teller Machine machine)

Thanks, I feel better now.

Two things can trigger a change in APN for a particular parcel.

One: Change in ownership that is recorded...

Two: Application to the Assessor to change the APN.

Not without specifically applying to the Assessor for the change. There will be paperwork and a fee involved. In all likelyhood, the Assessor will ask for a recent title report, too.

Hey Jim! Howz Davis?

I was wearing my UC Davis Aggies cap in the field the other day. An Adjoiner asked if Davis was a JC. LOL

BTW - the items on your list are some of my peeves, too...
