Land Survey/Civil Engineering Technician

CIBER, Inc. is looking for a Land Survey/Civil Engineering Technician to work with our Client, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) operates and maintains 16,000 miles of high voltage transmission lines and right of ways throughout the Pacific Northwest. This position serves as a Land Survey/Civil Engineering Technician reporting directly to the Survey Team Lead within the Surveying and Mapping Department. This position is an office position.

As a Land Survey/Civil Engineering Technician, the incumbent is responsible for the following:

•Providing technical support to the staff of the Survey Section. Must be able to clearly communicate with Land Surveyors, Mapping Technicians, Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Realty Specialists and other professional and technical staff.
•This technical support position requires knowledge of various types of software including: Trimble Geomatics Office, LISCAD, Star*net, spreadsheets, surface design and terrain modeling, databases, e-mail, excel, word, etc.
•Skilled in interpreting hand written survey note sheets. Performs survey computations and adjustments on a wide range of projects.
•Skilled in producing 2D and 3D maps using CAD (preferably MicroStation). Able to produce products in a timely and efficient manner to fit schedules and budgets.
•Serves as a representative of the BPA COTR to monitor, inspect and review survey work performed by private survey contractors for compliance with technical specifications, work schedules and recommends approval of deliverables.
•Must have a working knowledge of horizontal and vertical datum’s such as NAD83, NAD27, WGS84, UTM, NAVD88, NGVD29, etc.
•Thoroughly inspects and checks deliverables for accuracy and correctness; deliverables includes field note sheets, computation sheets, plan and profile hard-shell maps, topographic maps and scanning projects.
•Research and interpret deeds, title policies, survey records and other land record documents.
•Knowledge of professional surveying practices and procedures, state and federal laws affecting land surveying.
•Incumbent must be able to work as part of a team with other professional and technical staff.
•Incumbent must be able to work independently with a minimal amount of supervision.
•Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Associate of Science Degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering or demonstrated work experience. LSIT or EIT preferred.

Compensation: $18.00 to $24.00 per hour DOQ
