Earlier this week, Robert Barnet was shot wuile performing a boundary survey. Robert is a surveyor out of Cleveland, Texas. This was carried by the Huston Chronicle. The link to the current story is:
Shooting survival a 'miracle' Woman mistook surveyor for burglar By CINDY HORSWELLCopyright 2003 Houston Chronicle> <http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/metropolitan/1778534>
I just spoke with Cindy Horswell (the writer for the Houston Chronicle who wrote the most recent article) and the information officer at Memorial Hermann Hospital (where young Mr. Barnett is currently a patient in the Shock-Trauma ICU). Mr. Barnett did NOT pass away last night. He is still very much with us very much.
An account to help his family has been set up at Prosperity Bank in Cleveland. If you can spare anything from your wallet or business, please help out. This guy was "...not on the high end of the pay scale...", as a secretary pointed out. He's not covered by personal medical insurance, though there is Workmen's Comp. He has no savings or assets to take care of his family during recovery and rehab.
The account information for donations to the fund set up for Robert Barnett is as follows:
Account # 2935471
Routing # for wire transfers is 113122655 @ Prosperity Bank
The bank's address is:
Robert Barnett Fund
c/o Prosperity Bank
104 West Crockett
Cleavland TX 77327
The bank's phone number is 281-592-2661. The bank manger's name is Kenneth Riggs.
Please mark checks with the notation that they are for the Robert Barnett Fund.
Having been threatened with a shotgun myself, I cannot imagine what it's like being shot. This poor guy has nothing in the way of financial assets. He does have a wife and two small children. From the sounds of his family situation, he's a rich man with a goos woman by his side and the making of a wonderful family.
We are an ancient brotherhood (sisterhood too, now). Please let's show what we're made of.
Please send what you can. Let's show this young man that the surveying brotherhood is beside him and behind him.
Thank you,
Ian Wilson
