I have had some disscussions recently and I wanted to get some input from others on this Question. Do you need to show more that one Existing monument that has California Coordinates on a map, if you establish or show a tie to the California Coordinate System?

It is my understanding that if you are going to show California Coordinates on a Record of Survey or other recorded map you need to Tie at least 2 points, and show those ties on your map. (PLSA 8871.5) I just want to make sure that I am on the same page as everybody else.

Thanks, Jim D

Yes, you need to show ties to two points.

IMHO ALL THE PROCEDURES ARE NOT COVERED IN THE LS ACT, YOU NEED TO CONSULT THE CALIFORNIA RESOURCES CODE AND THEN MAKE YOUR DECISION ON WHAT NEEDS TO APPEAR ON YOUR RECORD PF SURVEY

Dane is quite correct. The PRC helps define what we need to do and what we need to tie into.

The following link is to a Record of Survey we are preparing. It is not submitted yet, but it does show how we are showing our SPC ties to CORS and to our site.

As long as you don’t say nasty things about the map, any comments or suggestions are welcome. ;^)
