I'm trying to decide between 4 different Survey Conferences. Which to attend? But the Fresno website still doesn't have a schedule, a list of speakers, no list of exhibitors, no list of anything! And there's is the first one coming up--only 4 weeks away! Don't get that. Anyone know anything more than what's available on their website?

I got a flyer in the mail from them a couple of weeks ago.

Try this: http://www.californiasurveyors.org/clsaforum/showthread.php?t=3712

Good news for those with very limited funds, the admission is free with a suggested donation of $80.

Kudos to the Fresnoids for easing the financial burden for those struggling in the current economy.

[Edit] I just went through the various pages of the website. Other than the home page, there is very little info posted yet. From the flyer, list the following as "Tentative speakers & Topics".

Mike Pallamary - How to make your surveying business more profitable
Stan Dickey - Using open source GIS to maintain survey records
Bob Grimm - The public right of way and utility occupation
Jay Seymour - The business aspects of land surveying, a case study in ALTA/ACSM land title surveys

Other potential speakers (with no topic given) are:

Landon Blake (aka the Sunburned Surveyor)
John Hales
Dr. Munjy
Dr. Crossfield
Dr. Ogaja
Dr. Nader
Dr. Hussain

Some of the presentations look interesting.

I guess I need to pay better attention which pages I'm copying web addresses from, or proof read my posts better. That's the one I thought I pasted in.

Thanks, Greg.

I communicated with the chairman of the conference today and inquired about this years banquet and auction. He replied and thanked me because it was not posted on the website.

http://conference.fresnogmefoundation.org/

Evidently the banquet and auction is going to be Friday night, but the conference ends Friday. Not sure how many are actually planning to stay that extra night, not knowing the banquet and auction are Friday night. I had heard that the Northern CA Section is having their dinner on Thursday night? Another confusing aspect, since this years conference has changed from Friday-Saturday, to this years schedule of Thursday-Friday.

Are you confused yet? I know I am, on how this confusion has transpired, with only two weeks before the conference.

See you all in Clovis (two weeks)!!!

I'll try to remember to bring a tag with me. Don't know if I'll stay for the banquet. I have two kids in basketball and should be at their games.

I'm there as an agent for the other team. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for students dressed in ripped jeans, untucked t-shirts, and flip flops. I'm going to take pictures and send them to the faculty of OIT to show the students what their competition looks like in order to encourage OIT students to apply for CLSA scholarships and show up in LV in March.

Just kidding (kind of). There's some particular sessions I want to sit in on and some people I'd like to see. Since you're going to be there, you're now at the top of my list!

Are you asking me if he's my date to the surveyors prom????? Ack!

I didn't sign up for the banquent, but I'll be around. I may yet decide to go to the banquent, depending partially if I can locate a check I misplaced at home.

Not sure what RAM's plans are beyond trying to get a picture of me in an OIT shirt and hat while surrounded by menacing FSU students and faculty.

I'm hoping that we'll have an opportunity to all share a meal and/or get together for an after hours conference meeting at a local watering hole.

Edit: I just found my receipt and it appears I knew ahead of time that I would be too cheap to spring for the banquent at the end of the month so paid for it at the beginning of the month.
