Surveying the Duarte Rancho

I am planning an exhibit at the Duarte Historical Museum on "Surveying the Rancho", to begin with the Mexican-era informal sketch and survey, proceeding through the land claim and later stages of surveying this area to the present. I would like the help of professional surveyors interested in this history and able to provide information on the surveying techniques and instruments used during this 150-year period.
