I am looking for training in GPS mission planning and processing. In order to receive funding, the teaching institution has to be accredited. Is there any "accredited institutions" in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Dwight:

Accredited by whom and for what purpose? Do you mean ABET? Do you mean the State Board of Education?

Dwight,

You can try Diablo Valley College (DVC) in Pleasant Hill. They have a Certificate of Achievement, Certificate of Completion and a Associates degree in GPS/GIS. Strictly on GPS they offer an Introduction to Global Positioning Sysytems (GEOG 127) and advanced (GEOG 128) course.

I took the Into course (GEOG 127) in the spring, and it was fun but very boneheaded. The material could have been taught in a one or two day seminar.

I'm going to take the advanced course (GEOG 128) in the spring. It isn't offered in the fall. I don't think it will be very useful though. I asked some of the people at the CLSA teaching GPS seminars and they all told me the best way to learn was hands on, and that those who knew wouldn't tell because it was their competative advantage in the marketplace.
